Code of Conduct

General Rules

  1. Hostel timings are from 5:00 AM to 11:00 PM.
  2. Students must maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the hostel.
  3. Littering is prohibited and may result in a fine of up to ₹2,000.
  4. Students cannot leave the hostel without permission hostel premises without prior permission and approval by the Rector/Warden.

Discipline and Conduct

  1. Late reporting to the hostel will result in a ₹1,000 fine and require prior approval.
  2. Ragging, sexual harassment, smoking, and substance abuse are strictly prohibited.
  3. Non-vegetarian food is not allowed in the hostel.
  4. Students must respect hostel property and pay fines if any damage is incurred by the student.

Facilities Usage

  1. Students must follow mess timings and rules.
  2. Night mess usage requires prior permission.
  3. Laundry and gym facilities are available for student use.
  4. Student activity rooms can be used from 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM.

Personal Responsibilities

  1. Pets are not allowed in the hostel.
  2. Students are permitted to play low music in their rooms, provided it does not disturb the hostel atmosphere until 11:00 PM.
  3. Students must maintain their room's cleanliness.
  4. Maintenance issues must be reported promptly on website http://maintenance.somaiya.edu and CC to Warden.

Personal Responsibilities

  1. Misconduct or damages may result in fines.
  2. Repeated offenses may lead to expulsion from the hostel.
  3. Surprise room inspections may be conducted.

Additional Rules

  1. Displaying notices requires prior permission.
  2. Birthday celebrations are allowed with permission.
  3. Students must take prior permission before getting an extra fan or cooler with extra charges applicable.
  4. Non-hostel students/friends are not allowed in rooms; First offense: ₹5,000 fine, Repeated offense: Expulsion
